What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea & tick drops?

I have noticed that after I put flea %26 tick prevention drops on my dogs (they both have black coats) that a white substance (sort of looks like powder) appears at the tips of their hairs almost immediatly...even before the substance has fully disbursed. Are these the flea eggs and larve or something else?

It would help to know what product you are using. My guess is likely an OTC product?

Your dogs are sniffing cocaine off each other.
POISON! These products are pesticides and not only have an effect to the outside of your dog but the inside of your dog too.
Yah yah yah... I know everyone is doing it so it is OK...
We don't poison our dogs in the name of 'prevention'. We feed raw food, do limited vaccines and fleas and ticks are not interested in our healthy dogs so we don't have to poison them every 30 days.
I use flea drops, but my dog is white so it wouldn't show anyway. It might be that a bit of the product is getting caught up in the fur as you lift the pipette away from the skin.It seems strange that it shows so soon after application.
Next time you visit your vet might be a good idea to mention it.
