What is wrong with my puppy?

My daschund puppy is 12 weeks old and just started having serious diarhea and is hacking like he needs to vomit. I read symptoms on the net and it said it could be canine distemper or even parvo. He is still playing around like nothing is wrong and still is eating strong. Should I go to the emergency room or could this be something minor that I don't know about. Thanks for any help.

If he isn't better by morning, then he needs to see a vet. Puppies dehydrate SO quickly when they have diarrhea.
It may be something as simple as something he ate, or worms, if he hasn't been wormed well, but it could be something as serious (deadly) as Parvo, or other virus.

If he is still playing, and not lethargic, then it can wait until morning.
Go to the emergency and be on the safe side. It can be parvo. Only a vet can determine it.

You wouldn't want to loose the little one on this , would you?

:(
Has any one feed the puppy CHOColate? Or has he gotten into any Chocolate? Chocolate is deadly to dogs!! Puppy eat and chew on anything and everything. Even fishing hooks. Take him to a Vet NOW!
has he been vaccinated for anything, if not don't take him out and about so much, until he is, stop food until you see a vet first thing when they open, or contact 24 hr vet for advice at least. if his spirits are good, and he seems himself other than diarrhea, just no food and little water til vet visit first thing- if the diarrhea has a strangely bad odor, nothing like regular dog poop, is dar, dark brown or almost a black or eggplant color --thats not good, look at the poop, is there blood in it? that is a parvo sign, distemper is not common in domestic dogs, but could be if not vaccintated- pls try to find 24 hr vet in your area - live in calif, and theres one here 805.466.3880, can't hurt to call for advice if you can't find one in your area
Take your puppy to the vet, NOW. Take the pup's food with you.
i would say get him to the vets, yes puppy's can have a loose tummy for many reasons but it can also be very serious, the puppy can be dehydrated and become very poorly with just having these symptoms with out the diseases you mentioned and can still be fatal
That previous lady had puppies?
That is quite odd.
Here's the deal on parvo:

Puppies with parvovirus will be lethargic. They will be severely dehydrated, and will probably not eat. The diarrhea will be bloody, or look like straight blood and so will any vomit.

However, it could be something serious. At that young age, I wouldn't take chances. Take him in to the vet asap.

Good luck.
haven't you vacinated him? take him to the vet! he should have had his 2nd series of shots by now.
take to the vets!
If the stools turn a grey colour it is parvo my dog had it.
The more food you five the more poo/sick comes out
hhave you recently gave your puppy its innoculations?
I have a Eurasier which had a really bad reaction to its innoculations %26 ended up in the vets for 2 weeks!
I would say make an emergency appointment with your vets better to be safe than sorry,
Your dog will get dehydrated %26 it must be kept calm not running around till you have found out the problem.
Have you changed its food has could he have ate anything without you noticing?
Have you got any plants etc in you garden yard that are poisonous?
Have you changed his food brand recently or feed him something he's not used to? I'd say give it 24hrs and see if it gets better. If not then consider the vet.
i would take him along to the vets. When they r so young it can be absolutly anything, he could have chewed something that is blocked in him somewhere, so it could be serious.
You didn't say what kind of shots he had or if he had any. that makes a big difference here. Anyway if he is still playing around and eating this can wait until you can get him to your vet, but do it soon. It is best to have him check out as soon as you can get into your vets.
SEE A VET!
come on people. vets will do nothing for distemper. when mine had it, he flat out told me he didnt want her there anymore. after making her wait outside in the freezing cold, which led to pneumonia (they get that with distemper, usually, unless kept in perfect conditions) we didnt get to treat her early enough since she had both parvo and distemper together- the distemper symptoms were masked by the parvo symptoms. she didnt get the tell tell runny nose like others the cough wasthe first thing that gave it away...
