What is the best way i can get my puppy to stop biting so much.?

he's about 3 months old and a collie mix
Answers:
Please don't hit or yell at your pup.

The most effective way I know to stop this habit is ignoring and redirect. If he is biting you give him/her a toy and get up and walk away from your dog. After a few minutes come back and praise your dog for playing (ie biting the toy and not you) and sit back down with him/her. If he starts biting again repeat the above steps.

Given time and patience this works quite well for all dogs. You should notice a marked improvement within a month or less. Dogs are smart and they can learn without someone hitting them or holding their mouth shout. You want them to not bite you (or anyone else) out of respect and willingness to please you not out of fear and pain.
Make a fist and move it forward as he is going for your hand... NOT punching him! Just bumping his nose or teeth and saying NO each time. He will soon learn it is not much fun. Again I am not suggesting you punch the dog.
Well the best method is to think like momma dog..she would bark really loud and scare the dog.

.. when ever the puppies teeth touch you, you scream really loud or say ouch really loud and startle the puppy...if he is not started it will not work.

flicking the nose or hitting on head can cause fear biters or hand biters, so these methods are not recommended...

..the trick to the above method is scare the bejebers out of the puppy anytime his teeth touch your skin.not just biting...plus reward, reward, reward for proper behaviour.
If your dog is biting people, when he bites you grab his mouth and pinch his cheek into his teeth (kind of grab overhanded and apply pressure on his cheek) and he will realize that it hurts and after a few times of doing this he will stop. Tell him "no" or "no bite" when you do this and let him know his behavior is wrong. Also, make sure not to let him bite you when you play around or rough house because you will be sending mixed messages. Also, don't ever hit your dog with your hand or a newspaper because that can make a dog aggressive if they have a strong personality.
Hope this helps!
When my dog was a puppy, we filled an empty pop can with coins and shook them whenever he jumped or nipped anyone. It worked, because he didn't like the rattling of the can.
Have a spray bottle filled with water handy and when he bites, squirt him and say NO. Or you may use a penny can, that's a empty soda can rinsed out and put about 10 pennies in it. When he bites shake it and say NO. Both of these work to stop barking too. If you need something for teething that he can chew. Take a wash cloth wet and ring out and freeze it once frozen give it too him you can also soak it in chicken broth and freeze it. It really feels good on their gums %26 teeth.Good luck;^)
Puppies bite. It's in their DNA. When he bites, lightly pop him on the nose and tell him NO. Then give hime something he can chew on as a substitute. The idea is to condition the pup that biting flesh is bad, but chew toys are OK.

Remember, baby it teething.
To get my puppy to stop biting whenever she tried i would yell out "ouch" or something like that. Eventually she stopped. Also your puppy is probably teething so you should probably by a few toys and bones.

Hope this helps!
I would truly suggest that you find some books on raising a puppy in the correct way. There are many out there as well as many different methods. It is always best to find a method that resonates with you as well as your lifestyle and stick with it. As far as the puppy biting, the mother would always correct this behavior in her puppies with a firm bite to the neck. It is possible to simulate this with your hand. However, I do suggest this that you only do this with the help of a professional as there are ways that are not correct and you can harm your dog.
Puppies are puppies and they are going to chew and bite. Whenever he bites, you need to discipline him and be consistant. When he bites you, say "NO!" and give him a toy instead. Since teething is not the funest thing in the world, try getting a cheap or old washcloth, wet it, put it in the freezer and let your puppy chew on that for awhile. It soothing to them and it's another chew toy
i think that you should get the dog a chew toy first. and every time he bites someone you should disipline him in some sort of way (but dont hurt him) and give him the toy instead
