What is the best way or medication to get a 14 week old lab puppy to sleep more than 3 hours at a time?

she gets lots of play time and exercise.
Answers:
Please no medications. You dog is a lab, and needs tons of exercise and play, and believe me when you say you think shes getting plenty of exercise then because shes awake alot, Shes not getting enough. You need to tire her out. Then you need to give her a place to make her feel safe and ready to calm down and sleep. Probably somewhere its quiet and not high traffic. She needs a kennel or a room untill she learns when its rest time. Then gradually graduate her to your room or bed, or where ever it is that you want her to sleep. Shes a lab and a puppy, you are going to have a few sleepless nights untill she is an adult.
Exercise not meds.
why on earth would you want to drug your pup to sleep? you could potentially seriously harm her.

if you werent prepared for the hassle of a new pup, you shouldnt have gotten one.
.
nothing are you crazy if you don't have time for the dog i will take it,you need to wear him ot like let him a long walk are throw a ball .
Meds for dogs meds for kids..what is this world coming to. What you need to do is give this dog to someone that is willing to give he/she a good home. Some one that will go out and play and run with the puppy. Anyone who wants to drug a dog because he won't sleep doesn't need a puppy. It really saddens me to see this.
u should not be giving any kind of drug to a puppy and a dog for sleeping, maybe ur pup just does not want to sleep much. maybe he want to be with you instead of sleeping all the time and beside i have never seen a dog sleep over 3 hours. they will usually sleep for 2 to 3 hours than get up and do things than go back to sleep for a while.
Its called PATIENCE.
First of all talk to your vet, they will have the best advice for you and to also make sure there is nothing medical going on. But here is some advice I have found that seem to have been the cause sometimes!

A 14 week old puppy typically does NOT sleep thru the night. Does the puppy need to go out to potty? A general rule of thumb is that a puppy's bladder can "hold it" for 1 month per month old plus 1/2 to 1 hour. NOT all puppies can do that, it's just a "guideline". So, your puppy probably needs to go out since it's only a little over 3 months old.

Do you reward your puppy by playing with it in the middle of the night or giving it a treat? That could be the puppy "training" you! If the puppy does need to potty in the middle of the night, just reward with "good (name)" etc and don't give it any treats.

Also, limit water a bit before bedtime. That might help a little.

I would consult your vet first though!
It is normal for a 3 month old puppy to sleep in 3 hour segments. Usually, they have to potty and wake up. It is not a matter of play time and exercise at all--just age. Usually, they will potty, play with a toy for an hour and go back to sleep. Completely normal.
That is normal for all puppies to have short naps through the day and it will become more active with shorter naps as it gets older, If you are having a hard time dealing with that now , you are in huge, huge trouble because from 6 months to about 2 years old that pup is going to be bouncing off the walls and into alls sorts of mischief
Give her bladder a chance to mature.

However there are some dogs :((
I had a little "Pipers Pacer" b*itch who's idea of "sit" was to spin in a 4 foot circle. She could mark a quad while spinning in that circle, but by the time a judge gave you her number all you would want to do was strangle her. If I was lucky she would actually lay down for about 15 minutes out of a 24 hour period. I quit running (and hunting) her because I figured it was only a matter of time before she managed to kill herself.
Does need more stimulation in the hour before bedtime, Man I only wish my Springer spaniel would sleep as much as he did during puppyhood. I took him out to go potty at 11:00-3:30AM and 5:30- I'm not sure everyone knows what kind of dedication a puppy needs, TRY GIVING HIM A CHEW TOY AT BEDTIME-this will be a life saver it pacifies him and saves furniture from teething- no joke i woke up to a grinding sound and my puppy was Still ASLEEP and chewing on the bed poor baby, My next puppy i'm going to ask the vet about using a baby teething gell.
NO MEDS!! there is no reason to drug your dog because you don't want to train it.. you dog should absolutely be sleeping through the night ( 7 hours) make sure you are feeding a high quality dry kibble - try CANIDAE --
mine is a year and a half and does not sleep very much. lots of exercise not meds.why would you want to needlessly medicate a dog come on!! do your homework on breeds next time
