What is the best way to train a springer spaniel?

Answers:
In my experience using food treats as an incentive works really well. I cook small pieces of lambs liver (until black and hard) in the oven and I haven't met a dog yet that it doesn't work on. Plus it is cheap and gentle on the stomach. Our Cocker Spaniel will literally do anything for a tiny bit! We have started clicker training using the liver and that is working really well.

Best of luck, I am sure you will have a huge amount of fun, Springers are a wonderful breed.
Train a Springer!!!

Best of luck!! They have a void in the middle of their heads, the brain is in the tail, hence why it moves like a wind turbine. Lol.
lol! good luck
a little patience... a lot of beatings...

seriously, i love my dogs and would never hurt them. i highly recommend positive reinforcement, not negative reinforcement. when i want to teach my dogs to do something, i reward them with treats when they accomplish the task at hand. look up some positive reinforcement techniques that may be right for you.
dont think you can train a springer spaniel there stupid and iam on my third one?
loads of praise as they are very affectionate dogs - ours are extremely well behaved we have a 7yr old *****, 4yr old dog - with no bits and a 1 and half yr old do with all his bits that we are hoping to breed from!
All of them respond to the whistle, the middle one was a working dog when she was younger and will never leave my side, middle one is now a topclass woking dog with the best breeding and the youngest one i got because he looked odd - and he is my baby. I started training him from 8weeks old but made it fun and only did little bits at a time - I never have him on a lead unless near to the road as he heals in on demand. We know alot of people who send their dogs away to be trained etc as they don't have the time - i think its best done yourself - lots of pple also say thet springer will run away - some do and when they get bk pple tell them off for running away - why will a dog come bk for a telling off - lots of praise, excercise, and keep them close is the key - when out with them and they are running around call them back to you if they go too far and maek a fuss of them - trust me this is the way i have trained all of my dogs and it works. Some dogs get more attention when they are told off then when they are good - this should be the otehr way around! My dogs, sit, stay, retrieve, cover, wait before they are told they can eat, if you have any more questions i will be happy to help.
I have a springer spaniel and she's absolutley great!
We have been able to train her quite easily buy only with the use of treats.
the best advise i can give is 2 take him/her 2 training they are manic dogs bless um but they benefit frm alot of exersice about hour 2 2 hours a day or twice a day if possible but training them as well is a very gud idea they need alot of space 2 run around inside ans out as they are a gun dog gudluk hun
