I personally love the look of American Bulldogs. They are stubborn dogs, so training would be in order, but to me they are so beautiful.
Depends entirely what you want from a dog in terms of physical upkeep and temperament.
Great Dane: They are very sweet dogs, but look huge and mean so in that way they can protect you. They sleep alot. A downfall is that they only live to be 6 years old on average because of their size.

I love beagles. Always have, always will.
Hands down, Pitbulls. They are the most loyal and loving dogs I've ever known. They are the entire package of great looks, great personality, high intelligence and loyalty.

Dobies are hilarious. I had one and loved him so much! If I were to get another dog, it would be a Doberman. Understand though that they are kind of hyper so they need a lot of attention and room to run and play.
I have had several dogs over the years and my Favorite would have to be my Black Lab. She is soooooooo loyal and loves to cuddle, which sometimes can be a pain as she is so large but this is one of the best breeds I have ever had!

i say dobermans, pit bulls, germans shepherds, chow chows, rotties, and alaskan malamutes. big dog lover. lol.
My 3 yr old Rottweiler and my 2 ALMOST 6 month old Pitwielers.
On a real note, I would definitly say Rottweilers and Pit Bulls! Those are the only two dogs I, personally, have ever cared for. I like bigger dogs! My pitweilers listen SO well and all three of them protect my house!

The best dog in the world is the dog YOU hold the standard to. For me it's been two - Jerry %26 Gael - both were border collies. It's the dog who listens when everything else in the world is going wrong, it's the dog who wants to be with you more than anywhere else in the world. It's the dog who would lay down his life for you if need be and asks only for a kind word, enough to eat and basic kindness. It's the dog who is there when everyone else walks out. The best dog is in all breeds - those mentioned and those not. Anatolian Shepherds, fox terriers, australian shepherds and a long list of others including mutts. It's the dog that comes into your life and is housed in your heart forever - that when you lose him or her you can't stand the thought of another pup but can't stand to be without one either because of what was shared with that dog. No other will come close but each is special in their own way and each asks so little in return.

I have been owned by many dogs, from purebreds to mutts. By far the best dog breed is the Doberman Pinscher. They are intelligent, clever, loyal, gentle yet protective, social, highly trainable, funny ... need I go on? When it comes to steady temperament, they rule in my book!
It has to be Labs because they are the most friendly, playful and people oriented of all the breeds. They are smart, intelligent(though they pretend to be dumb), cute and above all killing facial expression(no matter how angry u r on ur lab one look they give and u forget everything).
