Well, Boxers of course. They have a great personality and are great with kids. My brother has really bonded with him and Tyson (my dog) owns my brother. He is the best dog in the whole wide world.
Chocolate Lab
German Shepard
dachshund
i heard king charles spaniels are very loyal and affectionate and have quite good temperments. Dont get a boxer as you cant leave them at all, they are very clingy (bless them!)
Great Dane
Very subjective question. Short haired breed to not shed. Personally I like Boxers. Very good natured dogs.
chiuauas, westies, pugs, or if you want a bigger dog then, golden retrievers (although they shed), or labs
well it depend on what u like little dogs medium size dog or big dog or x x large dog email back
We breed miniature dachshunds and think that they are a great breed! They are so playful and entertaining! BTW, doxies are like potato chips...you can't have just one! Good luck in your search for a new member of your family to love!
how about going to the pound and just looking around till you find one you like? instead of trying to find a breed that may not be right after you get it
Olde English Bulldogge... Protective but not aggressive. Not hyper/ high strung. I have one and it is not high need at all.
Coton De Tulear. They are a new breed in the USA.. They dont mind being left alone for long periods of time a day. They are small (up to 12 pounds AT MOST) and hypo-allergenic. I have a Coton and she is the sweetest thing. She is a real lap dog. Very melo and kind. If someone near her is crying, he starts whimpering. Not a barker at ALL. Her favorite thing to go is curl up on my feet or lap and sleep.

heres a link to where i got her.. they're the best Coton De Tulears on earth!!!

a staff is a very good breed and will protect the house.
Hello..best to go check out some breeds for yourself..there is no one answer...check in pounds, rescue centers or vets for vets...no such thing as bad dogs, just bad owners %26 breeders.. many large breeds have been so overbred - even by pro's they are prone to Hip Displaysia - like labs, shepherds, rotties %26 dobies, also many home owner insurance comp's will not insure people who own dobies, pitts, rotts..even shepherds..as for shedding, the few that shed the least are poodles ( also the best for people with allergies ) or what I call Rope, mop or dread locks dogs, their fur coils like a mop..but they do all need trims...Take Care :)
basset hound. they are really funny and fun. they are loyal loving dogs too.
First, you need to decide what size breed you would like to get.
Second, you need to find out if the breed you are looking into needs a lot of attention or if the breed has a history of medical problems.
Third, you need to decide if a puppy or a full grown dog is what you want.
Getting an animal is about a 15 year commitment. This means that for 15 or so years you are responsible for another living creature.
My picks are chihuahua or peekapoo for small dogs. Bassett hounds for a more medium size dog. And Labs or Shepards for a larger breed.
Make sure you let the animal pick you. Some people just pick an animal and later realize that the animals temperament doesn't fit in well with the owner's situation.
Good luck!!
I have a Staffordshire Terrier (a type of pit bull). She is one of the smartest and most loving dogs I have ever had. She is also a short-haired dog, so she doesn't shed much.
How about adopting a retired greyhound? They are very sweet, perfect for older kids, and great for a family that will be around a lot. They also appreciate on leash walks but do not demand a lot of activity.
Every one here is going to tell the breed of dog they have is the best dog for kids, well a lot of them are wrong. You need to research the many different breeds and make an educated decision on what you think is the best breed for you and your families lifesyle. AKC has a web site with descriptions of all recognized breeds of dog. AKC.org You could also read a few books like Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds, or Idiots Guide to Chosing, Buying and Raising a Dog.

If properly trained and embraced as a beloved member of the family, any breed can make a great pet. With that said, some dogs are seen as more “kid-friendly” than others and, as a result, have become extremely popular among families. According to the AKC, the five most popular breeds in the United States are:

Labrador Retrievers are by far America’s most popular dog—more than 140,000 Lab puppies were registered last year with the AKC—and have a reputation for being playful, hardworking and affectionate toward children. The Lab is easily trained and is highly respected for his prowess at many jobs: as a guide dog for the disabled, a search-and-rescue dog, and for narcotics detection.

Golden Retrievers are sporty, easy to train and strong, but their most outstanding trait is character. They are outgoing and devoted companions to people of all ages, happy and trusting. They make great hunting companions, too.

German Shepherd are noble in appearence and character. This breed's courage, steadfast heart, and keen senses have endeared him to families for generations. Active and outdoorsy, German Shepherds are very fond of children and make wonderful companions.

Beagles love being around people and other animals. They are gentle, happy companions who thrive on affection and attention. They are also clever, quick, and, most of all curious. They need plenty of active exercise.

Boxers are high-spirited, playful, curious and energetic. Highly intelligent, eager and quick to learn, but can be stubborn and sneaky. Constantly on the move, bonding very closely with the family. Loyal and affectionate, Boxers are known for the way they get along so well with children. A well brought-up and properly socialized Boxer will also get along with his own kind and other household pets.

You should do your research before you bring any animal into your home. If breed is not an issue you could always adopt a pup from your local pound or shelter. They come spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations and you can find all ages, sizes and breeds. As I stated in the beginning any dog can be good with children it is a matter of how the are trained and socialized.
Labradors and golden retrievers make good family dogs if you get one whose parents were good family dogs instead of champion field dogs that want to hunt and cover 30 miles a day. Other breeds can be nice too. The main thing to remember is that the dogs personality is formed in the first 4 months of it's life and this is when you do the socializing and training that will make it fit into your lives. Training a puppy means giving him guidance in all situations; not waiting to see what he's going to do.
mini daschunds...i just got my 2nd one
