I am looking for a dog that looks...army-ish, rugged, muscular, protective, etc. Maybe sometihng like an Akita, bull terrier. Just tell me what looks like a bad dog! Lol thanks and God bless.

Go to the shelter! There are plenty of "tough-looking" mixes there. I got my girl from a shelter (Doberman-Rottweiler mix) and she is as nasty-looking as they come. You will find that a pound doggie will be extremely loving to you, because he/she will be eternally grateful that you brought him home.

you should go to the humane society or the local pound and look for a dog, this way, it wouldnt be put to sleep and you would have a great new pet! i personally like great danes but that may be a tad big for you...lol good luck with your search!

Looks might be important for you when considering what type of dog you want to get--but it is also essential to consider temperament, behavior, size, etc that might be compatible with your lifestyle. There is a lot of info here in regards to the breeds recognized by the AKC--but not all dogs are recognized (for example the Tennessee Walker Hound and Boykin Spaniel are both breeds currently up for consideration for recognization, but are not fully recognized)--and you'll need to search the net for more info (preferably from a breed club) for such dogs.
