What kind of dog breed should I get for myself?

I love animals that are not to big and not to small. Just about medium.
Answers:
Well you've already answered part of your own question. But the right dog for you would be the one that best suits your personality, your activity levels (don't get a dog thats hyper if you are not able to exercise him properly), your life style and where you live (city, country, house, apartment etc.) Please don't forget to check out the dogs at your local shelter. There are so many abandoned pets waiting for someone to take them home. I have never, ever had even a small amount of trouble with any pet that I have adopted at a shelter. I'm sure you'll find just the right pet for you, just be patient and follow the criteria above. Good Luck.
cocker spaniel??
you could get a golden retriever. But they are very fiesty. read Marley and Me (author: John Grogan)before buying one!!

but remember mixed breeds make great pets also try visiting your local shelter good luck!
If you don't have kids, you should try a Shiba Inu.
They're ok around kids but they love their owners %26 are very sweet.
I have one %26 i love her =)
a classy choice would be a standard poodle. The standard poodle seems to have two personalities at once, they are one part suave style, one part class clown. and they are so smart! i highly recommend them
u should get a papylon( srry if spelled wrong, pronouneced pap-ill-on) they are soooo cute, ave a great diaposition, dont bark too much or even at all, and are the perfect size- just about medium. as they get older the hair around their ears gets longer and they just start to look so beautiful- more than before. they are not high maintenance and are the perfect dog to get.

Good Luck!
get a shar pei..they're so cute..look under images for shar peis for yahoo
Try a miniature australian shepherd! Right around pounds. Protective. Easy to train. Great with kids. ADORABLE! Mine has bright crystal blue eyes that are simply to-die-for! But it is definitely worth looking into this breed. I have owned many dogs and many breed but this one is - by far- my FAVORITE, no competition!
well maybe u should get a beagle. they love 2 play so if u dont want 2 have 2 exercise with them dont get one.u could get a lab also, but be sure if u get a lab they shed a lot so u might not want 2 keep it inside.
If I were you, I would get a book about all the different breeds and their needs and personalities. It really helps when you research the breed before you get one. Some are layed back and others are high energy. Some need lots of grooming care, and some need very little. Some are very intelligent and some are hard to train. Also some do well in the house, and some need lots of room to run, or long walks daily. Do you need a dog for protection? That is another good question. For the last 23 years, I have had German Shepherds for protection and they are intelligent and great with children, although you need lots of time and patience when training them, and they do go through much chewing when they are puppies! My daughter three months ago got an English Bulldog, and she was the easiest dog to house break I ever had! They are very tuned into your feelings and very lovable. She will give a little woof when she hears something outside as well, but I wouldn't call her a barker by any means, unless there is something to bark about! They grow at a fast rate, are irresistible, need very little grooming, but do have a few heath concerns that you must read about before buying. Hope you find a breed to suit your individual needs! Good luck!
yorkie defently
cmon...the real answer depends on your personality. dog breeds are all different personalities, to some extent. you have to do research to find a breed that tends to suit yours.
Then get yourself a medium sized breed that fits your personality and home life. Visit the humain society, animal
shelters. Many good loving pets there in need of good homes. They do charge $ but is worth it as the animal is already alterd and vaccinated. Good luck
RESEARCH! Medium? I have a medium dog who needs a 45 minute jog and 20 minutes of fetch everyday! Can you handle that? There are TONs of different breeds, and everything about you should be taken into consideration. Do you have a big yard? Do you have any kids? Do you work a lot? Do you want a dog that is aggressive?
