I don't have a pit but I have 5 dogs (4 basset hounds %26 a toy poodle) and the best food I have found is Pro plan. It is highly digestable and they poop a lot less.

There are many great foods out there for dogs right now, if you don't have a problem spending a little more money. When looking for a good food look on the back at the ingredients. The first ingredient should always be meat(chicken,lamb,beef,venison... Never by any type of food that has the first ingredient as corn. Companies use corn as a filler and it is hard for dogs to digest. It has no nutritional value. I have 6 Pits(I work for a pit bull rescue) and I feed Merrick, Innova, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Canidae, and Natural Choice(by Nutro). These are all holistic foods and have the best quality ingredients. My dogs have done better on these foods then any other brand.

You could spend a small fortune on pet food if you choose to. Read the ingredient list and just make sure the 1st ingredient listed is not corn. Purina diets such as Purina One is a fine choice. Its a decent price.You can get it anywhere and its a quality diet. Purina has been around forever. They were the first pet food company to make prescription diets.
Other quality foods are made by Hills and Waltham.
